ILLINOIS BEEF ASSOCIATION The Illinois Beef Association (IBA) is the marketing organization and trade association for Illinois’ cattlemen and women. IBA is a consumer-focused, producer- directed organization that strives to be the foundation of a profitable and sustainable beef industry in Illinois, which contributes approximately $500 million to Illinois’ economy. The IBA Policy Division is the state trade association representing Illinois’ cattlemen and women, with more than 2,000 individual members and several industry organization members. Governed by a 14-member board of directors who are all cattle farmers, the IBA Policy Division works to advance the viability of the Illinois cattle business and to be an advocate for the cattle industry’s policy positions. The IBA Checkoff Division oversees beef and beef product promotion, research, information and related activities financed by the beef checkoff and similar market development investments. The IBA Checkoff Division is governed by a 14-member board of directors who are all beef producers and provide direction in state efforts to build demand for beef. ICGA maintains a high profile in the legislative arena in Springfield, IL and Washington, DC through the benefit of membership dues. The Illinois Corn Marketing Act precludes the use of corn checkoff dollars for legislative activities, so ICGA utilizes its membership income for these activities. While Illinois Corn Marketing Board devotes resources to developing programs and materials geared toward corn market expansion, it takes ICGA volunteers and manpower to educate the public on a consumer level and work to represent the industry’s best interests. Corn is Illinois’ most highly valued agricultural commodity. We consistently rank in the top two states by production, trading the #1 title back and forth with the state of Iowa. Partnered with the ethanol industry, Illinois’ corn farmers are an economic engine that helps power the state’s rural areas.
